The reason why chapter two and the article, Association Is Not Causation: Alcohol and other Drugs Do Not Cause Violence written by Richard J. Gelles and Mary M. Cavanaugh are similar is because they both have something to do with researching for a topic and how you go about researching for a topic step by step. This article specifically talks about the argument on weather or not alcohol and drugs leads to family abuse. There has been evidence, research, experiments, test, and surveys done, stating weather or not this is true. Everyone believed that alcohol and drugs was the main reason why there had been so many reports on abuse going on in families. After everything was said and done, everyone found out that this theory was false. In fact the real reason was the influence of substance on the likelihood of violence is mediated by social factors, such as income, education, and occupation; cultural factors, such as attitudes about violence, drugs, alcohol, and the effects of alcohol; and personality factors. In other words these main factors are why we hear about abuse in families. Alcohol and drugs just makes the person more agitated by these issues. As you can see alcohol and drugs are no longer the reason why there's abuse among families, being that this is a proven fact I now have a different perspective on this situation.

                                                               Who Am I

I'm just your typical girl born and raised in New York City, and lived in Spanish Harlem almost all of my life, but now I live in Harlem. I come from a small family and only have one sibling, which is my 12 years old little brother. My biggest influences are my parents especially my mother, because she molded me into the person that I am today. I'm hard working, dedicated, and determined on getting anything that I put my mind in too. My goals in life are very straight forward, I plan on graduating from college so that I can become a nurse, working in a hospital, and eventually starting a family living in a nice house somewhere. I also want to organize a group for supporting charity because I feel as being a human being on earth you need to give back at one point in your life so you can receive as many blessings in your life as you can get. Most people feel just because you might come from a bad environment or a bad household that means your going to be just like your environment or household you come from. Honestly that's just a bunch of B.S. Take me for example I come from the projects in Harlem and look at me now I'm a college student who's striving my way up to success. Most importantly I'm not going to let anyone or anything get in the way of that. All I can do is be me and this is me to all of you who don't know me yet and who's trying to get to know me. This is who I am.
